From Gamers to Industry Builders: SNRG’s Mission to Grow Esports in Qatar

In just a few years, SNRG, founded by brothers Ibrahim and Anan Samha, has delivered large-scale esports activations across Qatar, including experiences that drew more than 75,000 visitors and forums bringing together over 300 stakeholders from across the sector.

It started with a shared passion for gaming from a young age. Ibrahim built an audience of more than 250,000 subscribers through gaming content, earning the YouTube Silver Play Button, while Anan was actively involved in the gaming community, building a regional audience through gaming journalism on X, where he reported the latest gaming news in Arabic.

“Qatar has a strong gaming community, but the industry is still developing. The audience is already there, but there is still work to do to help it grow,” says Ibrahim Samha, Co-Founder and CEO of SNRG.

Why Media City Qatar

SNRG joined Media City Qatar in 2024, one year after launching in January 2023. For the founders, the decision was both strategic and operational.

“Esports falls within Media City Qatar’s mandate, and that alignment has been key for us. It is an environment that understands the sector and is able to support its development in a meaningful and practical way.”, Ibrahim explains.

What made a difference for SNRG was the environment Media City Qatar offers. The setup process was smooth, and the team provided support along the way, allowing the company to focus on growing the business rather than operational complexities.

Building Momentum in a Growing Market

SNRG was established to help structure and grow Qatar’s esports industry by connecting communities, brands, and institutions through events, activations, and partnerships.

Starting as a small, project-based operation, SNRG built its presence within a space that was still taking shape.

As opportunities opened up, the business grew with them. By the second year, revenue had improved and the company gained real traction, expanding from a core team of two into a flexible network of freelancers based on project needs.

That progress was not happening in isolation. In Qatar, the digital gaming market is currently valued at around $290 million and is expected to grow to nearly $380 million by 2030, driven by a young, highly connected population and continued investment in digital infrastructure. At the same time, the esports sector is expanding, with the number of users expected to exceed 436,000 by 2027, reflecting a growing and increasingly engaged audience.

It is becoming more visible within the country’s broader landscape. The inclusion of esports at the 2030 Asian Games in Doha reflects the region’s growing role in the sector.

From Collaboration to Impact

In just a few years, SNRG has grown from a small, project-based setup into a team delivering some of the most visible esports activations in Qatar.

Delivered in collaboration with Media City Qatar and presented by SNRG, the forum reflects the company’s role in helping shape conversations around the industry and bring key stakeholders into the same space. As an invite-only event, it brought together over 300 participants at its latest edition, including representatives from more than 200 government entities, international organizations, and key industry players, contributing to a growing dialogue around esports in Qatar.

At the same time, much of SNRG’s work has been happening closer to the community. Across activations in major malls, gaming has been brought into everyday public spaces, where people can engage with it directly. At a major shopping mall in Doha, one activation alone welcomed more than 75,000 visitors, highlighting the strength of local interest.

That connection between audiences and experiences has also extended into sports. Through the E-Qatar Stars League, delivered in close collaboration with Qatar Stars League, the first official EA Sports FC esports league featuring 12 Qatari football clubs, SNRG helped execute a format where fans could engage with clubs in a different way, through competitive gaming.

More recently, that progress carried into Qatar National Sports Day 2026. In collaboration with Media City Qatar, SNRG delivered the Esports Village at Stadium 974, marking the first time esports formed part of the national celebration. Welcoming around 20,000 visitors, the activation offered one of the clearest signs yet that esports is becoming part of Qatar’s broader sports culture. This was followed by the launch of the permanent 3-2-1 Esports Lounge at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, making it the first Olympic museum in the world to feature a dedicated esports space. Developed in collaboration with Media City Qatar and managed by SNRG, the lounge provides a lasting space where people can return regularly to play, compete and connect with the wider gaming community.

Powering What Comes Next

As the industry continues to evolve, SNRG’s role is expanding alongside it. The company is increasingly being approached by brands, government entities, and institutions looking to enter the esports space.

“We’re barely scratching the surface of what can be done in Qatar. The space is still developing, but the interest is growing fast, and we’re scaling to meet that demand,” Ibrahim notes.

As the industry grows, their role in building it is becoming more visible, shaping how esports is experienced in Qatar today.
