As we prepare to welcome the world to the fifth edition of the ‘Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg,’ taking place from May 20 to 22, the stakes, and the opportunities, have never been higher.
This year’s theme, “The Road to 2030: Transforming the Global Economy,” is a statement of intent. We are only five years away from the realization of Qatar National Vision 2030, with much of the region also advancing their own roadmaps toward 2030. The conversations we hold this month will help shape the trajectory not just for Qatar, but for the region as a whole in the critical years ahead.
Since 2021, Media City Qatar and Bloomberg Media have worked together to build the ‘Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg’ into a global platform for forward-thinking dialogue, one where media becomes a catalyst for progress, helping to drive candid, future-focused conversations about the regional and world economy.
Held under the esteemed patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Forum now brings together decision-makers, visionaries, and changemakers from across the continents to tackle the questions that will define our shared future.
And those questions are becoming more urgent:
This year, we sharpen our focus on these very fronts across five key pillars: geopolitics, globalization and trade; energy supplies and security; technology hype and reality; business and investment outlook; and sports and entertainment.
What makes this Forum more than a gathering of ideas is its tangible impact. In 2024 alone, the ‘Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg’ contributed QAR 75 million to our economy and generated over 350 new jobs. It reached 124 countries, hosted over 1,500 high-level participants, and elevated global perceptions of Qatar by 18%, establishing Doha not just as a venue but as a voice.
As Chairman of Media City Qatar, I am proud of how media continues to amplify this voice, as a bridge connecting sectors, shaping narratives, and enabling global understanding. Especially in a time where conflict and division are on the rise globally, the act of coming together to talk, to listen, and to engage meaningfully is more consequential than ever.
It is in this spirit that we, alongside our partners, continue to build the Forum as an annual commitment to dialogue, innovation, and delivery. A commitment to seeing Qatar’s story unfold as a global convener, investor, and collaborator on the road to 2030.
This is what it means to be a place Where Next is Made.
We look forward to welcoming you to Doha this May.
Abdulla bin Ali Al Thani
